Banks Report Rs671 Billion Profit in 2025

Pakistan’s banking sector posted combined profits of Rs671 billion in 2025, marking an 11% year-on-year growth, according to a report by Topline Securities. The growth was mainly driven by a significant decline in interest expenses, which offset lower interest income in a low policy rate environment, boosting overall net interest income (NII).
United Bank Ltd (UBL) led the sector with its highest-ever profit-after-tax (PAT) of Rs130 billion, followed by Meezan Bank Ltd with Rs90.7 billion and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) at Rs85 billion. In terms of growth, NBP recorded an impressive 227% YoY increase, helped by higher NII and one-off adjustments like pension charges from 2024. UBL grew 73% YoY, while Bank of Punjab grew 18% YoY.
The top dividend-paying banks for 2025 were MCB Bank (Rs36 per share), NBP (Rs35), UBL (Rs29.5), and Meezan Bank (Rs28).
On deposits, Habib Bank Ltd maintained the highest at Rs5.5 trillion, followed by UBL (Rs5.1 trillion) and ME Bank Ltd (Rs3.3 trillion). In terms of deposit growth, UBL led with a 96% YoY increase, followed by Faysal Bank (37%) and MEBL (28%).
