Roshan Digital Account Hits $12.17B Milestone

Pakistan’s Roshan Digital Account (RDA) inflows reached $12.17 billion by the end of February 2026, according to the State Bank of Pakistan. In February alone, overseas Pakistanis deposited $241.8 million. Since the programme’s September 2020 launch, more than 909,000 accounts have been opened, showing steady interest from non-resident Pakistanis.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee slightly strengthened against the US dollar. It closed at Rs. 279.31 per dollar, up Rs. 0.01 from the previous session. Globally, the dollar remained firm and is headed for a second consecutive weekly gain as investors moved toward safer assets during global tensions.

In the local market, gold prices fell sharply despite higher international rates. The price of gold dropped by Rs. 7,100 per tola, reaching Rs. 533,262. Ten-gram gold also fell to Rs. 457,186, according to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association. Silver declined as well, dropping Rs. 324 per tola to Rs. 8,851.

Globally, spot gold rose 0.8% to $5,118.39 per ounce. However, it was still about 1% lower for the week, according to Reuters. Analysts say high interest rates, a strong US dollar, and easing supply flows from Dubai continued to influence the market.
