The Pakistan IT Industry Association (P@SHA) revealed that 5G technology can significantly boost Pakistan’s IT exports and digital economy. Earlier this week, the government held a 5G spectrum auction that generated $507 million in foreign exchange to expand the country’s connectivity network.
The association highlighted that 5G is more than just faster internet. It will offer low latency and higher network capacity, helping Pakistani software houses and tech firms connect with global markets. This will also allow them to handle data-heavy projects for international clients, boosting IT exports.
Sajjad Mustafa Syed, chairman of P@SHA, reaffirmed that 5G will also support emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and augmented reality. These technologies will have applications in healthcare, education, agriculture, and smart cities. The association urged the Ministry of IT and Telecom to ensure a fast and industry-friendly rollout of 5G services.
