All 3 Telcos Qualify for Pakistan’s 5G Auction

Pakistan’s 5G rollout is moving closer. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that all three major telecom operators, Jazz, Ufone, and Zong, have qualified for the upcoming 5G spectrum auction.

Each operator has submitted the required USD 15 million bid bond. This makes them eligible to participate, PTA Chairman Hafeez-ur-Rehman told the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT.

The auction will offer six spectrum bands, including four new ones. At least 300 MHz will be available. The auction is scheduled for March 10. The bid submission deadline is February 27.

PTA assured lawmakers that the process will be free, fair, and transparent. They said the new spectrum will boost mobile data speeds. It will also pave the way for nationwide 5G services.
