The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, in collaboration with UN Women, has officially launched the Women Empowerment Policy 2026-2030. The policy was developed through a detailed consultative and evidence-based process led by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW) and the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department.<\/p>\n
The initiative also received technical support from UN Women and financial assistance from the German government. Officials said the policy is designed not just as a document, but as a practical commitment to improving the lives of women across the province.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Aftab Alam said the policy aims to expand women\u2019s access to crucial areas such as education, healthcare, social protection, and economic opportunities. It also seeks to boost women\u2019s participation in the workforce, promote entrepreneurship, and ensure equal opportunities for growth and leadership.<\/p>\n
Dr. Samira Shams, KPCSW chairperson, emphasised that the policy is built on inclusion and justice. She said it addresses violence against women, ensures legal protection and access to justice, and promotes women\u2019s representation in decision-making bodies.<\/p>\n
KPCSW Secretary Shazia Atta briefed participants on the policy\u2019s key pillars, which include women\u2019s economic participation, safeguarding rights and dignity, and improving access to services. Legal experts noted that the policy aligns with Pakistan\u2019s commitments under the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 on gender equality.<\/p>\n
Experts and stakeholders also shared their views and reaffirmed support for effective implementation.
